Dates:

  • Hackathon Start Date: April 4th, 2025

  • Hackathon End Date: April 10th, 2025

  • In-Person Presentation & Winner Announcement: April 11th, 2025, 11 AM - 3 PM

Eligibility:

  • The hackathon is open to all students at St. Joseph's University.

  • Participants can work individually or as part of a team.

  • Teams may consist of up to 4 members.

  • Participants must submit their game projects by the final submission deadline (April 10th, 2025).

Project and Submission Requirements:

  1. Game Project:

  • Your game must be fully functional and playable.

  • It should demonstrate clear, interactive gameplay.

  • You can develop the game in any programming language or game development platform of your choice (e.g., Unity, Godot, etc.).

  • Submission on Devpost:

  • Submit the following on Devpost by the deadline (April 10th, 2025):

    • Game Files: Include all necessary files (source code, executable files, game assets, etc.).

    • Gameplay Demo or Trailer: A short video or demo of your game in action to showcase its features and gameplay.

    • Documentation: Provide any instructions needed to run the game (e.g., installation steps, controls, etc.).

    • Optional: A link to your GitHub repository (if applicable) for version control or additional code review.

  • Presentation on April 11th:

  • Each team will present their game in person from 11 AM to 3 PM on April 11th, 2025.

  • The presentation should include a brief demo of your game, followed by an explanation of its design, gameplay, and development process.

  • You may also answer any questions from the judges during the presentation.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: Portable fridge

  • 2nd Place: Headphones

  • 3rd Place: Surprise tech prize

  • Additional prizes may be awarded based on creativity, innovation, and overall impact.

Note: All prizes will be distributed during the in-person presentation event on April 11th, 2025.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection:
Games will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Creativity: How unique and innovative is your game? Does it offer a new and exciting gameplay experience?

  2. Gameplay Quality: Is the game engaging, fun, and challenging? Does it have smooth mechanics and clear objectives?

  3. Design: How polished is the game’s visual and audio design? Is it visually appealing and consistent with the game’s theme?

  4. Technical Implementation: How well was the game implemented? Is it free from bugs and technical issues?

Winner Selection:

  • The winning teams will be selected based on their performance in these criteria.

  • Judges will make the final decision after the in-person presentations on April 11th, 2025.

  • Winners will be announced immediately following the presentations.

Additional Rules:

  • By participating in this hackathon, you agree to follow all the rules outlined above.

  • Any projects that violate university policies or use plagiarized content will be disqualified.

  • Participants must submit all their project files before the submission deadline. No late submissions will be accepted.

We do not tolerate harassment of hackathon participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any hackathon venue, this includes the following.

  • hacks

  • talks, presentations, or demos

  • workshops

  • any parties associated to the hackathon

  • social media

  • any other online media

Hackathon participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the hackathon without a refund (if applicable) at the discretion of the hackathon organisers.
